The establishment of Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) in Cairo is likely to become a nucleus for founding a new entity for natural gas similar to Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), energy experts said. Cyprus, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Palestine and Egypt agreed on Jan. 14, 2019 to set up a forum to create a regional gas market, cut infrastructure costs and offer competitive prices. “Establishing the forum is part of the Egyptian and the eastern Mediterranean countries’ strategy to boost their economies from the rich natural gas in the region,” said Gamal Qalyoubi, professor of oil and energy of the American University in Cairo. Security Council after a series of IAF airstrikes on Sunday and Monday, Jaafari said Israel was only able to act freely in Syria because it had the backing of the United States, the United Kingdom and France in the Security Council. The Palestinian Authority has formally renounced all financial assistance from the United States, in order to avoid liability for US court decisions demanding millions in payment for terrorist attacks. PA Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah informed the Trump Administration of the decision in a letter he sent to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo…At issue is the 2018 Anti-Terrorism Clarification Act (ACTA, P.L. 115-253), which Congress passed into law in October 2018 and goes into effect at the end of this month.
