“Was there anything Polish about Nazi death camps in Poland?”

Poland’s Attempt to Deny History
by Joseph Puder
February 5, 2018

Whether by coincidence or intentionally, the Polish Parliament in Warsaw decided to use the week of the Annual International Holocaust Commemoration to act on a draft bill that issues a fine or a prison term to anyone who suggests that Poles are responsible for Nazi crimes committed in Poland. The bill was approved last week in the lower house of the Polish Parliament, and it is expected to be passed by the Senate before being signed into law by Poland’s president.  The draft proposes fines or a three-year jail term for anyone who refers to Nazi death camps as being Polish.  While it is true that Germans, not Poles, created and operated the death camps, and likewise true that thousands of Catholic Poles risked their lives and their families in protecting and saving their Jewish neighbors, many more anti-Semitic Catholic Poles were complicit in the murder of the Jews. How one courageous proactive journalist took on the IRS over “Obama anti-Zionism” and won

ARUTZ SHEVA
Obama’s anti-Semitism/anti-Zionism reigned at the IRS from 2010- 2017
by Prof. Phyllis Chesler
February 3, 2018

The Z Street application was at first delayed, then frozen, because the IRS claimed as a defense, that Israel was viewed as a “terrorist entity,” and a country “with terrorism.” Many of us suspected that Obama’s administration had politicized Homeland Security, the DOJ, the FBI, and the American relationship to the United Nations in ways that favored Islamism, Islamic terrorism, Palestine, Iran, and that demonized Zionism and Israel’s attempts at self-defense. Holocaust denier poised to claim GOP nomination in Illinois race for Congress
by Lynn Sweet and Frank Main

Arthur Jones — an outspoken Holocaust denier, activist anti-Semite and white supremacist — is poised to become the Republican nominee for an Illinois congressional seat representing parts of Chicago and nearby suburbs. “Well first of all, I’m running for Congress not the chancellor of Germany. All right. To me the Holocaust is what I said it is: It’s an international extortion racket,” Jones told the Chicago Sun-Times. READ MORE

#MeToo “Grown women apparently can’t make up their own minds or speak for themselves. Call in the chaperones”

NATIONAL REVIEW
#MeToo’s Awkward Side Effects
by Heather Wilhelm
February 7, 2018

…As National Review’s Kyle Smith recently noted in the New York Postmajor companies are now cutting back on men and women traveling together for business. Many state legislators in Florida will no longer meet in private with female lobbyists and staffers, with some requesting chaperones, those sober adult guides formerly reserved for school dances and field trips. Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal (“Can You Still Date a Co-Worker? Well, It’s Complicated”tells us, corporations across the U.S. are “drawing a hard line in the sand” when it comes to employee relationships. The assumption is that grown adults can’t do it themselves. READ MORE

“Israel has devised a humane way of ridding the world of evil people; it acts in self-defense, and yet is still vilified for it”

Israel’s cat-and-mouse game with Yasser Arafat
by Ronen Bergman
January 25, 2018

Israel’s attempt to kill Yasser Arafat by shooting down a Cairo-bound cargo plane he was believed to be on, which was aborted at the last minute, was not the only time the IDF targeted the PLO leader. Earlier this week, the New York Times published excerpts from “Rise and Kill First: The Secret History of Israel’s Targeted Assassinations,” a new book detailing some of the attempts to take out one of Israel’s biggest enemies. New details indicate it was neither the first nor the last time Arafat, who died at age 75 from illness, narrowly escaped an Israeli attempt on his life. READ MORE

“Egypt has allowed Israel to conduct more than 100 air strikes in northern Sinai in an effort to root out terrorists affiliated with Islamic State,The New York Times reported on Saturday”

JERUSALEM POST
NYT Report: ‘Israel struck over 100 targets in Sinai with Cairo’s okay’
by Daniel J. Roth
February 3, 2018

For more than two years, unmarked Israeli drones, helicopters and jets have carried out a covert air campaign in the area with the approval of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who has struggled to contain the deadly threat in the restive peninsula, according to the report. According to the Times, who spoke to seven current or former British and American officials involved in Middle East policy, Israel began carrying out the strikes shortly after ISIS insurgents brought down a Russian charter plane over the peninsula in October 2015, killing all 224 people aboard. The United States has since credited Jerusalem “with killing a long roster of militant leaders” in Sinai, helping to stabilize the border between Israel and Egypt as Cairo works to regain its footing in the region. “PA President Mahmoud Abbas’ recent tirade against U.S. President Donald Trump prompted by American offer to set future Palestinian capital in Abu Dis”

Palestinians fume as US plan seeks to reduce PA presence in Jerusalem
by Shlomo Cesana and Erez Linn
February 1, 2018

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ recent tirade against U.S. President Donald Trump was prompted by a stipulation in Washington’s peace plan that seeks to reduce the role the PA plays in Jerusalem, Israel Hayom learned Wednesday. The Palestinian leader’s wrath was reportedly evoked by an American proposal to set Abu Dis as the capital of a future Palestinian state, instead of east Jerusalem, as the PA demand. Abu Dis is a Palestinian town on the outskirts of Jerusalem. It houses Al-Quds University, one of the largest Palestinian universities, and the Arab residents of east Jerusalem consider it an inseparable part of the urban fabric. READ MORE

Poland: “The bill would impose prison sentences of up to three years for mentioning the term “Polish death camps” and for suggesting “publicly and against the facts” complicity on the part of the Polish nation or state in Nazi Germany crimes”

Pressure mounts on Poland to back away from Holocaust bill
by Lidia Kelly and Anna Wlodarczak
February 3, 2018

Poland is seeing a resurgence of anti-Semitism over pending legislation that would impose jail terms for suggestions that the nation was complicit in the Holocaust, local minority groups warned, as pressure mounts on the president to veto the bill. Parliament passed the measure on Thursday, drawing outrage from Israel, U.S. criticism and condemnation from a number of international organisations. President Andrzej Duda has 21 days to decide whether to sign it into law…More than three million of Poland’s 3.2 million Jews were murdered by the Nazis, accounting for about half of the Jews killed in the Holocaust. Jews from across Europe were sent to be killed at death camps built and operated by the Germans on Polish soil, including Auschwitz, Treblinka, Belzec and Sobibor. READ MORE

IRS Apologizes to Pro-Israel Group for Biased Treatment
by Adam Kredo
February 1, 2018

A pro-Israel organization that found its nonprofit status subjected to undue scrutiny by the Obama administration’s IRS as a result of its advocacy on the Jewish state’s behalf reached a settlement Thursday with the Department of Justice that included a formal apology from the U.S. government for subjecting the group to unfair treatment, according to an announcement. The Trump administration’s DOJ announced Tuesday that it had reached a settlement with Z Street, a conservative pro-Israel advocacy group that sued the government over allegations the Obama administration subjected the organization to unfair scrutiny as a result of its pro-Israel views.
