Here’s what it costs to put your synagogue under armed guard
by Ben Sales
November 13, 2018

After a mass shooting in a heavily Jewish area shocked the nation, Rabbi Yakov Saacks felt like his Long Island congregation was at risk. So the rabbi installed 17 cameras on the synagogue’s exterior that can zoom in to read numbers on license plates, as well as indoor cameras at each entrance. He began covering the windows with Kevlar, at around $800 each…And he hired armed security guards to protect the Hebrew school and Shabbat services. When the sanctuary is especially crowded — on the High Holidays, for example — as many as three guards will patrol the building carrying guns and communicating by radio. READ MORE

Another #ShuratHadin win: In precedent-setting decision, Jerusalem District Court rules that case on behalf of two Jewish American women held hostage by PLO terrorists in 1985 will be heard in Israel, despite the fact they’re not citizens

Nation-State Law allows any Jew to sue terrorists in Israel
by Yishai Porot
November 8, 2018

A precedent-setting decision made by Jerusalem District Court Judge Moshe Drori based on the Nation-State Law means that any Jew from anywhere in the world who comes to harm because he is Jewish could sue for damages at an Israeli court.  Judge Drori ruled on a tort claim filed by two women who were held hostages when Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) terrorists hijacked the Italian cruise ship Achille Lauro in 1985. The ruling is based, inter alia, on the Basic Law: Israel as the Nation State of the Jewish People, according to which the Jewish State is responsible for ensuring the well-being of its citizens and of those of Jewish origin who were affected by anti-Semitism. READ MORE

Erekat “as usual, doing everything he can to avoid reality so Palestinians can continue to live in a fantasy world where their issues are still considered to be front and center on the world stage”

ELDER OF ZIYON
Saeb Erekat says no Arab state will normalize relations with Israel, as Bahrain invites Israel’s Economy Minister to a conference
November 9, 2018

PLO official and self-admitted liar Saeb Erekat reassured whoever is still listening to him that the Arab world will not normalize relations with Israel without prior, comprehensive implementation of the Arab Peace Initiative. Ironically, he made these statements in Amman, Jordan, which has been at peace with Israel since 1994. Erekat, the Secretary General of the Executive Committee of the PLO, said that talks about normalization are “merely hallucinations of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.” READ MORE

“Since fall of 2015, too many in the pro-Israel community have chosen to forget about the fight over the #IranDeal”

Pro-Israel organizations should finally seek payback against Iran deal Dems
by Jonathan Greenberg
November 9, 2018

…And so it’s in everybody’s temporary interests for the fight over JCPOA [aka Iran Deal] to be a distant memory. For the foregoing reasons, among others, pro-Israel organizations want it to be over. Pro-Iran-deal senators, too, want it to be over. Unfortunately, the next time there’s a big ask on an existential issue, JCPOA will still be there. Politicians will know there’s no downside to ignoring the pleas of an essentially toothless foreign policy lobby. We may all want to forget about it now, but when they decide it’s in their interests to remember it, remember it they will. READ MORE

Kristallnacht 80 years later: “Amid the worst pogrom to take place in Germany since the Middle Ages, most US Jewish communal leaders told their constituents to keep quiet”

TIMES OF ISRAEL
How to explain the ‘timid’ reaction of American Jewish leaders to Kristallnacht?
by Matt Lebovic
November 10, 2018

…Most notably, the influential General Jewish Council insisted on maintaining radio silence following Kristallnacht. Comprised of leaders from the so-called “defense” organizations, the council issued these instructions in the pogrom’s aftermath: “There should be no parades, public demonstrations, or protests by Jews,” according to the directives. The council also reminded American Jews that it was in their interest not to advocate for admitting more Jewish refugees into the country. According to historians, most prominent American Jews were afraid of how their fellow citizens would react to “demands” from the Jewish community. “If Western Europe understands the value of the Western alliance and Trump doesn’t, why are they prioritizing their profits over the need to confront Iran?”

COMMENTARY
Lessons from a century of history
by Jonathan Tobin
November 12, 2018

…Trump understands that the Iran deal must be renegotiated because the pact that President Barack Obama proclaimed as solving the nuclear threat is fatally flawed. The deal not only enriched and empowered the world’s leading state sponsor of terror, but its sunset clause ensures that Iran will eventually get a bomb anyway. Rather than joining with him to act to correct this problem and restrain Iranian adventurism—including a mass slaughter in Syria, a bloody war in Yemen, and a standing threat to the security of Sunni Arab nations and Israel—the Europeans prefer to keep doing business with Tehran. Palestinian Authority–Israel’s peace partner–has been found guilty of beating, burning, starving and torturing many detainees

JERUSALEM POST
High Courts endorses judgments against PA for falsely jailing Palestinians
by Yonah Jeremy Bob
November 7, 2018

In a blockbuster ruling the Supreme Court on Wednesday effectively endorsed two judgments totaling close to NIS 14 million against the Palestinian Authority for falsely jailing 51 Palestinians. In December 2017, the Jerusalem District Court issued a judgment of about NIS 900,000 in attorneys’ fees for the plaintiffs in the case, and in June, a judgment of approximately NIS 13.1m. against the PA for false imprisonment. In the first case of its kind, an Israeli court in July 2017 ruled that 51 Palestinians who were tortured by the PA for cooperating with Israel could sue the authority for damages. READ MORE

J Street says growing influence will allow it to ‘retake the reins of America’s foreign policy'”

Majority of J Street-Backed Candidates in Contested Races Lose
by Brent Scher
November 8, 2018

Liberal Jewish advocacy group J Street emerged as one of the biggest backers for Democratic candidates this cycle, but a majority of the candidates in races deemed competitive fell to their Republican opponents. J Street endorsed more candidates than ever before in 2018, putting its support behind 102 Democratic incumbents in the House and 25 Democratic incumbents in the Senate. The group boasts that it was able to distribute nearly $5 million in support of its candidates. Though many of it’s candidates won, many of them were running in safe seats for Democrats. J Street’s support proved ineffective in races where there was a real opponent. READ MORE

A declaration of war
by Jon Loew
November 8, 2018

Typically, declarations of war are issued by an aggressor. In this case, we are issuing a declaration of war in response to a war declared against our people hundreds of years ago yet denied by so many of my co-religionists. As the founder and president of the Legion self-defense and counter-terrorism training program I keep getting calls and emails asking me what I think about what happened in Pittsburgh. Don’t ask me what I think. Don’t ask me for my thoughts. My actions provide your answer.

While the rest of Jewish leadership has discussions, wine-tastings and suggestions for the rest of us, we have built an army of America’s new Jews. As you form committees to decide if there is anti-Semitism we train to take down an active shooter. As you create graphics to share online, we are trained in combat first aid. As you form committees to honor each other, we train young men and women to take a punch, smile and destroy their enemy. You have lived among the “other” for three generations, yet many of you still don’t understand them. Nor do they understand you. READ MORE

AMERICAN THINKER What Truly Caused the Pogrom of 1938  Since taking power in 1933, the Nazis had tightened the existing gun control laws. All German citizens, including Jews, were required to register their weapons, and for every firearm purchase, they must obtain a special permit from the authorities. Finally, in March 1938, a new gun control law was passed in Germany [which] declared a total ban on Jews from participating in the production and trade of firearms and ammunition.
