Will terms of Obama’s Israel military aid MOU spell death for Israel’s aircraft industry?

Israelis Debate Future of U.S. Military Aid
by David Isaac
June 11, 2018

For most people, American aid to Israel is the measure of the “special relationship” between the two countries. AIPAC, the major pro-Israel lobby in the United States, considers its efforts to secure this aid its No. 1 priority. It was therefore surprising to hear senior Israeli officials in late May complain about American assistance, with one describing it as a drug addiction. Their outburst centers around two innovations introduced into the 10-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the official name for the American aid agreement, which was negotiated between the Obama and Netanyahu administrations in 2016. READ MORE

Over the past few weeks, the leaders of the Reform and Conservative movements have chosen to deliver their flagship institutions “into the hands of Jewish antisemites”

JERUSALEM POST
If Not Now, then When?
by Caroline Glick
June 7, 2018

…Over the past two decades, the major disputes among and within American Jewish groups have revolved around two main issues. First, they faced the challenge of skyrocketing intermarriage and assimilation rates among non-Orthodox Jews and the concomitant dwindling of membership rates in non-Orthodox religious institutions. Second, major American Jewish groups have had to deal with the challenge of Jewish anti-Israel groups. …When the leaders of the Reform and Conservative movements embraced Chabon’s anti-Judaism and IfNotNow’s anti-Judaism, they announced that they have not merely chosen – in the face of their existential crisis of assimilation and attrition – to self-destruct. READ MORE

As a student of history, let me tell you what a Hitler-like Nazi-like President of the United States would have done these past 500 days: He would have had Chuck Schumer put into a concentration camp. He would have had medical experiments done on Nancy Pelosi and Maxine Waters. He would have had Robert Mueller and his entire investigatory team murdered in the middle of the night, the same night, with long knives…Writers at the Washington Post and New York Times would be dead or in concentration camps. MSNBC host Joy Reid criticized lavish bat mitzvahs and Ariel Sharon in old blog posts
by Charles Dunst
June 8, 2018

Embattled MSNBC host Joy Reid on her now-deleted blog wrote posts mocking a lavish bat mitzvah, criticizing the late Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and suggesting the U.S. had no stake in the terrorist threat from Iran…”[Ariel] Sharon,” Reid wrote, “also is the ‘father’ of the disastrous (and still expanding) settlement movement that has brought Israel to the brink of self-destruction by shipping religious militants from Brooklyn and Europe along with impoverished Russian jews into the occupied territories in order to hold onto ‘Biblical real estate’ READ MORE

“The old canard that American backing for Israel alienated prospective allies in the Arab world has disappeared, now that the Sunni Arab states find themselves in a de facto alliance with Israel against Shi’ite Iran”

Israel Shows What Alliances Are For
by David P Goldman

…Israel has substantially reduced Iran’s military capacity in Syria, for example, and has done so without provoking a confrontation with Russia…The optimal way to deal with Iran is to help bring down the Islamist regime…The beating that Israel has given the Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps and its motley mercenary army in Syria humiliates the regime, and contributes to the overall goal of regime change. No American boots on the ground, and probably no American planes in the air, will be required. That’s what the Israeli alliance contributes. READ MORE

ASHARQ AL-AWSAT US to Provide Israel with Modern Weapons to ‘Face Possible War with Iran’ Security sources in Tel Aviv revealed the approval of US President Donald Trump of a broad plan to strengthen the capabilities of the Israeli army, to meet the “threat of a possible war with Iran.” The plan includes increasing the number of US military units in Israel and expanding them regularly, and strengthening Israel’s defense capability to surpass Iranian ballistic missiles, the sources said.

As The Atlantic excerpt makes clear, [Ben] Rhodes’ job is to whitewash the [Obama] White House’s role in the most devastating humanitarian catastrophe [Syria] of the 21st century. And that was only part of the price that the administration paid for the nuclear deal with Iran. Had the United States moved against Assad, there would have been no deal. As journalist Jay Solomon explained in 2016: “Iranian officials told me that even had the diplomats doing the negotiations wanted to stay in talks, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps would have pulled the plug.” READ MORE

NATIONAL REVIEW The Editors: More Deceit Uncovered in Iran Deal In short, the Obama administration lied…But when Obama administration officials couldn’t persuade Congress and the public of their outlook, they simply lied about it. We hear a great deal these days about the grave repercussions of presidential untruths—and rightly so. But the previous administration, it seems, perpetrated deliberate untruths with calamitous consequences for U.S. policy in the Middle East. We look forward to seeing that administration’s officials held accountable.

Saudi Arabia Lightens Up On Women-A Little
by Michael J. Totten
June 6, 2018

Saudi Arabia is about to become slightly less like a Taliban state. Hardline Sunni Wahhabis have long enforced strict gender segregation and the veiling of women, but that’s about to change, at least around the edges a bit. The government has announced that on June 24, women will finally be allowed to drive cars, and this week, authorities allowed ten women to swap their foreign driver’s licenses for Saudi licenses in advance of the new law…The Middle East is by far the most culturally conservative region on earth, but every part of the world has been becoming steadily becoming more liberal for more than a half century at least. Anti-semitism “has been called history’s oldest hatred and mental disease, and it has shown itself to be remarkably adaptable, stretching back thousands of years”

Anti-Semitism Is a Mental Disease

As a Jew and an Israeli, every time I write an online article about Israel and the Middle East, Jew-haters come out of the woodwork or the sewer like cockroaches, with a barrage of comments full of hatred, prejudice, bigotry, fake news, and fake history against Jews in general and the Jewish state in particular. For me as an Israeli, the world’s sick obsession with the world’s only Jewish state, which constitutes a tiny area of around ten thousand square miles, including the disputed territory of the West Bank, compared to the 13 million square miles of the Arab world…is bewildering, irrational, and outrageous. The next phase of the effort to stop the Trump administration from preventing Iran from getting a nuclear weapon has already begun. As The New York Times reported today, the senior leaders of the European Union have formally asked the U.S. Treasury and State Departments to grant exemptions to European companies and allow key sectors of their economies, including energy and aviation, to maintain their financial connections to the United States while also doing business with Iran. The letter confirms that the Europeans understand that U.S. President Donald Trump and his foreign-policy team mean what they say about re-imposing crippling sanctions on Iran…READ MORE

Conservative Review: Special Counsel Mueller has an unsavory history of suspicion directed against Israel and Jews

CONSERVATIVE REVIEW
Robert Mueller’s Israel problem
by Jordan Schachtel
June 5, 2018

As the Mueller probe drags along into year two of its supposed investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election, a disturbing pattern has emerged. The special counsel has become obsessed with the state of Israel. The former FBI director is deeply suspicious, to the point of total paranoia, that there is a grand conspiracy involving the Trump campaign and transition officials as potential agents for the Israelis.  On Monday, the Daily Caller reported that Mueller had allegedly coerced Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos to plead guilty to lesser charges, after threatening that he would be prosecuted as an Israeli spy.
