Amb. Friedman interview clarifies “higher price” #Israel to pay with #Palestinians

ISRAEL HAYOM (by agreement with JNS)
US Ambassador David Friedman: We don’t tell Israel what to do
by Ariel Kahana
September 7, 2018

Relations between Israel and the U.S. have grown closer than ever and the bilateral cooperation is unprecedented. This includes an end to the critical discourse that once emanated from the American administration against Israel; the shattering of the mendacious Palestinian propaganda – both in reference to the settlements and to the exaggerated numbers of “Palestinian refugees”; …American withdrawal from UNESCO and the HRC; unequivocal support for Israel’s right to defend itself…; …relentless efforts to quash the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement; and above all else, the official recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the relocation of the American embassy there. The Sum of All Tears
by Matthew Continetti

What I want to tell you about Wendy [Sherman’s] story [Not for the Faint of Heart: Lessons in Courage, Power, and Persistenceis that it’s embarrassing, both self-pitying and self-congratulatory, and proves exactly the opposite lesson that it intends. The year is 2015. The scene is the Palais Coburg Hotel in Vienna. “I thought I’d be home in short order,” Sherman writes. “By day 25 I had barely left the hotel and eaten only 1 meal outside the Coburg.” The poor dear! Confined in this shack, this madhouse, this roach motel!…What’s striking is that Sherman considers her account an example of “the art of the deal.” If so, what is the lesson? To have a fit when negotiations reach an impasse? READ MORE

When it comes to real courage, “try being a conservative on the Upper West Side of Manhattan” (or Highland Park)

NEW YORK SUN
Brother-in-Arms: Our Own Anonymous Makes a Rare Appearance
by Mr. X
September 6, 2018

It appears I have in Washington a kindred spirit, who has discovered the tremendous power of anonymity. In today’s New York Times, someone claiming to work at the highest levels in the White House wrote a scathing critique of his (or her) boss, President Trump, and his amorality. The writer boasts of working with others in the administration to thwart the President’s worst instincts, of which, according to the author, there are many. “Anonymous” has become the main topic of conversation on every cable channel, talk radio show, and the Internet. I understand this, having had to hide my persona for fear of being castigated for my beliefs. READ MORE

Nearly 40 per cent of British Jews would “seriously consider emigrating” if Jeremy Corbyn became Prime Minister, a JC poll has found. Israeli farmers travel to Hague, file war crimes complaint against Hamas
by Yonah Jeremy Bob
September 3, 2018

A group of Israeli farmers traveled to The Hague in the Netherlands on Monday and filed a war crimes complaint with the International Criminal Court (ICC) against top Hamas officials for what they called fire kite terrorism during the Gaza border crisis. The complaint was drafted by Shurat Hadin-Israel Law Center, and co-signed by the farmers and some 50,000 concerned individuals worldwide. It is part of an effort to turn the tables on Israel’s critics who have accused the IDF of war crimes for killing approximately 170 Palestinians during the crisis. READ MORE

Jewish Leaders Outraged Over ‘Black Hitler’ Farrakhan’s Prominent Appearance at Aretha Franklin’s Funeral
by Benjamin Kerstein
September 2, 2018

Jewish leaders voiced outrage on Sunday over the prominent attendance of Nation of Islam leader and notorious antisemite Louis Farrakhan at legendary singer Aretha Franklin’s funeral on Friday. Farrakhan was given a front-row seat on the dais, sitting next to controversial African-American leaders Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, and only three seats away from former president Bill Clinton. “It was absolutely jarring to see one America’s leading purveyors of antisemitism given a place of such prominence at Aretha’s funeral,” Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the Anti-Defamation League told The Algemeiner. “While UNRWA claims there are today 5.5 million Palestinian “refugees,” there are a mere 20,000 individuals who left Israel during the pan-Arab invasion who have yet to be given a permanent home”

Trump‘s ‘Peace Process‘ Starts by Ending the Fake One
by Caroline Glick
September 4, 2018

President Donald Trump’s decision last week to defund the UN Refugee Works Agency for Palestine (UNRWA) may not seems as significant as recognizing that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital and transferring the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. But it is. Both actions involve rejecting myths embedded in the failed peace process between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). Both actions ground U.S. Middle East policy in reality. And consequently, both actions clear a path for a more stable future for all actors in the Middle East and for the U.S. in its relations with the states and peoples of the region. READ MORE

Abbas voices support for tripartite ‘confederation’ with Israel and Jordan
by Raphael Ahren
September 2, 2018

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has voiced interest in a tripartite confederation with Jordan and Israel, in what would appear a dramatic departure from his longstanding insistence on a two-state solution, according to Israeli peace activists and a Palestinian official. According to the dovish Peace Now group, a senior delegation of which met Abbas on Sunday in Ramallah, the Palestinian leader said senior US administration officials Jared Kushner and Jason Greenblatt asked him recently about his opinion of a “confederation with Jordan.” “‘I said [to Kushner and Greenblatt]: Yes, I want a three-way confederation with Jordan and Israel.’ READ MORE

by Ido Ben Porat

Former US Secretary of State John Kerry will publish a new book in the coming days, including memoirs of the time he served under President Barack Obama and his failed attempt to achieve peace between Israel and the PA. From excerpts of the book published over the weekend by Jewish Insider, a clear picture emerges: The Kerry and Obama duo sought to evacuate Judea and Samaria and abandon Israel’s security, and only Prime Minister Netanyahu’s steadfastness prevented the uprooting of hundreds of thousands of Jews from their homes.
