Hamas rejects Red Cross plea for information on Israelis held in Gaza

Hamas has rejected a plea by the International Committee of the Red Cross to provide it with information about the fates of five Israelis believed to be held in the Gaza Strip, Arab media reported Sunday. Hamas is believed to be holding the bodies of Staff Sgt. Oron Shaul and Lt. Hadar Goldin, who were killed in the Gaza Strip in separate battles during Operation Protective Edge in the summer of 2014, as well as two Israeli captives, Ethiopian Israeli Avera Mengistu and Bedouin Hisham al-Sayed, both suffering from mental health issues, who crossed into Gaza voluntarily in 2014 and 2015.
