A declining Reform Movement wants to Reform Israel

…A mere 3 percent of Israeli Jews identify with the [Reform] movement, and even fewer attend one of the only 42 Reform congregations in the country…At no point, however, did the movement make aliyah a priority. Even today, the ReformJudaism.org web page on aliyah says only that the movement encourages Jews to “strengthen their ties with Israel” and to participate in “organized visits”… Reform encourages congregants to visit Israel as tourists, while the overwhelming majority of American olim are Orthodox. The movement also seems to be openly at odds with the Israeli consensus regarding Israel’s security needs and the dangers of terrorism. The current head of the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ), Rabbi Rick Jacobs, served on the Board of Directors of the leftist and pro-Palestinian J Street, and the ultra-left New Israel Fund which donates to organizations supporting BDS.
