WJC calls on Congress to make Holocaust education mandatory in U.S. schools

The World Jewish Congress has called on the United States Congress to ensure that Holocaust education will be mandatory in schools. The WJC started a petition late last week following recent statistics, which found that 49% of millennials polled are unable to name one Nazi extermination camp, while 41% believed that the number of Jews killed in the Holocaust was significantly less than 6 million. WPTV/NBC Spanish River High School principal reassigned after controversial Holocaust comments The principal of Spanish River Community High School in Boca Raton has been reassigned following controversial comments he made about the Holocaust. In an email from 2018, Principal William Latson told a parent, “I can’t say the Holocaust is a factual, historical event because I am not in a position to do so as a school district employee,” adding that “not everyone believes the Holocaust happened.”
