Vice President JD Vance blamed Republicans’ poor performance in the midterm elections on the U.S. war in Iran, calling it “obvious to almost everyone,” as well as the current state of the U.S.-Israel relationship. Vance offered his assessment in a lengthy statement on X on Wednesday morning, attributing the fact that “many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026” to the Trump administration’s approach to Middle East politics…The vice president said that a pollster, whom he described as “one of the smartest people I know in politics,” told him on Tuesday that some voters who supported President Donald Trump in 2024 “were angry and planning to vote for Democrats” due to four primary reasons: a desire to “end the war” in Iran, to “focus on cost of living/inflation,” to “put America First,” and to “change our relationship to Israel.” READ MORE

JNS Vance blames election loss on Iran war, relationship with Israel “The reason we lost is the war,” the U.S. vice president wrote. “If you’d like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next six years was worth it, then do so” but “that’s at least honest.”

MEDIA LINE Vance Blames Iran War, Israel Ties for Midterm Losses; President Trump Defends Strikes President Donald Trump said Wednesday that Vice President JD Vance was largely correct in attributing Republicans’ sweeping congressional election losses to the war in Iran and US relations with Israel, but defended his decision to launch the military campaign in February. Speaking to reporters while touring construction of a new White House ballroom, Trump said he agreed with Vance’s assessment of the election results but would not have changed his approach to Iran. “I know how he feels about it … I think it was fine. I thought it was good,” President Trump said of Vance’s post on X. “I knew the war was gonna impact [the election results]. Whether it impacted it or not, Iran can’t have a nuclear weapon,” he added. “I would’ve done nothing different.”
