From bedside of his son on life support from terror attack, Israeli envoy to US decries Mamdani’s ‘dangerous lies’
October 7, 2026
Yechiel Leiter, Israeli ambassador to the United States, was so put off by the statement that New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani released on the third anniversary of Oct. 7 that the envoy decried it from the hospital in Israel, where he is at the bedside of his son, who is on life support after a Palestinian terrorist hit him with a car. “It’s actually hard to find a sentence in Mamdani’s post that isn’t a lie,” Leiter stated. “Paying lip service to the victims of Oct. 7 just to spread blood libels about Israel might play nicely to the red-green/communist-Islamist alliance that he promotes in the United States, but those of us who know better see his perverted language for what it is,” the Israeli envoy stated. “This man is a defender of Palestinian terrorism, a promoter of antisemitism and an advocate of anti-Americanism.” according to the Israeli envoy. NEW YORK POST Mamdani’s tone-deaf Oct. 7 post attacks Israel for ‘ongoing genocide,’ sparks outrage Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s statement marking the third anniversary of Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack Wednesday largely attacked Israel for committing “war crimes” in an “ongoing genocide” — sparking outrage from Jewish advocates who said Hizzoner was “weaponizing” the tragedy. Hizzoner dedicated less than a quarter of his written statement to the “unthinkable loss” suffered when “Hamas killed more than 1,100 Israelis and abducted 251 others” on Oct. 7, 2023 — with the vast majority devoted to his ongoing attacks on Israel. “The suffering did not begin nor end that day. It instead continued through the Israeli government’s devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza,” he said, citing Hamas statistics as he decried the Palestinian casualties of the war launched in response to the terrorist attack.
JTA Protesters overrun Oct. 7 Israeli peace vigil attended by Mamdani Hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters on Wednesday night overran a vigil marking Oct. 7 attended by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. The demonstrators swamped the area of Union Square Park that was supposed to host the event held by Israelis for Peace, a left-wing peace group. The organizers moved the vigil to a nearby spot in the park surrounded by police barricades as speakers struggled to be heard above the protesters. Attendees held electrically lit candles and signs reading, “Not one more life.”
